Anadi Naik
Anadi Naik is a distinguished Indian‑American social activist, writer, and columnist whose work spans grassroots movements, biography, and fiction. Born in Odisha, India, he became deeply involved in Vinoba Bhave’s Bhoodan and Sarvodaya movements, undertaking extensive Padayatras across the state and contributing regularly to the magazine Sarvodaya. He also played a leadership role in Jayaprakash Narayan’s movement and was imprisoned under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA) in 1975 for his activism.
Naik has authored several books in Odia and English, reflecting his engagement with social reform, cultural discourse, and narrative storytelling. His acclaimed biography, A Man of Humility: Life and Times of Sarat Chandra Maharana, explores the life of the eminent Odisha educator and social reformer. He has also published fiction works such as Blown Away, Song of Satan, and Nineteenth of November, which combine nuanced storytelling with reflections on social and human concerns.
Currently based in Frederick, Maryland, USA, Naik continues to address social and economic inequalities through activism and advocacy. He writes regularly on international affairs, bridging Gandhian ideals with contemporary global issues, and inspiring readers and social reformers alike.
